Subtle and layered. Perfumed notes of spiced potpourri, red rose petal, rhubarb, and ripe summer strawberries. Deeper notes of blackberry and wild black raspberry lead the pallet with a great structure in a mineral driven, graphite and crushed rock. Meaty notes of beef Carpaccio and iron provide more nuances which compliments this fleshy wine of great depth, fresh acidity, and fine-grained tannins. Comprised of two blocks at this treasured site, planted over thirty years apart, older vine block Q Martini Clone and block 42, a new hillside planting of two clones, Mt. Eden and 115. Only 3 barrels produced.
This wine holds tremendous stuffing and offers an extraordinary complexity, blending pinot noir from two distinct appellations, Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills. Floral and seductive, the bouquet offers sweet notes of vanilla and spice cake to accompany vibrant red fruit, blood orange, pomegranate, and dark cherry, hidden notes of red apple skin and fresh plum, together with more savory notes of stew and hoisin sauce. Chalky, fine-grained tannins suggest rocky notes of wet stone and earth. More than just a ‘county’ blend this wine will deliver with every layer. Only 3 barrels produced.
Our second release of Solomon Hills Vineyard Chardonnay provides exquisite balance and richness, much like its predecessor. Beautiful notes of stone fruits, poached pear, and tantalizing tangerine compliments orange blossom, vanilla, and a lemon zest. This wine is creamy and lush with great length and tremendous aging ability. Slow building and becoming richer with air, the wine is juicy and persistent with chalky minerality. Only 5 barrels produced.
